Dear Melissa,
The results are in! All year long you have read our monthly newsletters where we have told you all about staging and shown you several photo galleries. Now, we have some local successes and proof that staging works in the Lowcountry! Also, we have included some helpful advice about what to look for when deciding upon a home stager.
144 Spring Meadows
"My listing at 144 Spring Meadows Drive in Bridges of Summerville is a stunning 3 story home, just over 3400 sqft, 4 - 5BR, 4 full baths. It's only 2 years old and has very versatile space. After seeing Bevin's work on Daniel Island recently, I suggested to the homeowners they consider staging their vacant home. We decided to make the most of rooms of special interest: those you'd see first upon entering, then those with great flex-space. The homeowners were very pleased with the timeliness and quality of Bevin's work. I've even received compliments from buyers' agents after showing. Staging a home provides warmth and gives a potential buyer an idea of how the property would work with their family's lifestyle. Thanks, Bevin, for making 144 Spring Meadows Drive a pleasure to show!"

Magnifying Glass
As you may have noticed, the home staging industry is booming! However, it is currently an unregulated industry and there are no industry standards. So, what should you look for when deciding which stager to use?

Ask to see examples of the stager's work and see if they have testimonials from previous clients. See if they have a good website, business card, or brochure - everything a legitimate business owner should have. Ask how many homes they have staged, and how many have sold.

What is the cost of staging, what is included with it and how long will it take to complete? You must not only look at the stager's bottom line, but also at what you are getting for the money. Is the stager including every room that you would like staged? Will they take 3 days or 2 weeks to complete the staging? Are they using rental furniture? Some stagers may charge less because they are using lesser quality furniture, and others may charge more for using furniture that is more suitable for the style and price point of your home.

Also, do not be afraid to ask the higher priced stager to reduce their fees or revise their proposal. Many stagers include everything that they think should be done in a home in order to best market the home. However, most should be able to adjust their proposal to better suit the client's budget. This may mean a partial staging, or less rooms staged. While this may not be their best recommendation, it will certainly still better market the home.

Remember the goal of staging is to add value to a property and to showcase its features. Make sure you hire a professional stager that has your and your client's best interest always in mind.

Thank you for your continued trust and support. We have seen tremendous success this year, and we do not plan to stop now! Please contact a First Impressions Home Stager to help you with your property. See you next month!

Sincerely,
